Teacher Joseph Knight is honored

Bishop Chatard teacher Joseph Knight had his classroom interrupted the morning of May 9, but he didn’t mind. Representatives from Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria stopped by to let the social studies teacher know that he had been selected as one of two Central Indiana grand prize winners in the Chicago pizzeria’s “Ce-LOU-Brate” teachers contest.

The prize: Mr. Knight will enjoy a free Lou Malnati’s pizza every week for a year, and BCHS will receive a $250 pizzeria gift card.

Prior to Teacher Appreciation Week 2024, celebrated May 6 – 10, Lou Malnati’s collected online nominations to acknowledge the hard work and dedication in the classroom of exceptional teachers. Mr. Knight, who teaches geography, ethnic studies and AP European history at BCHS, was nominated by BCHS sophomore Dalton Fugate.

“Mr. Knight is honestly a wonderful teacher,” Dalton wrote in his nomination. “As one of his students I can say he connects with each student individually, his room is full of joy and laughter, and I have learned a lot from his class. I believe he has a great and effective way of teaching.”

Mr. Knight is a 2016 graduate of Bishop Chatard High School. He has taught at BCHS since 2021.
