Favorite BCHS Moment: Having four children graduate from BCHS ('82, '83, '86 & '98), my memories are countless. Faith, academics, sports and lasting friendships top the list. The beat goes on as I have two grandchildren enrolled - Classes of 2010 & 2013.

Favorite Quote: Harv Sutton's "isms" remain in my heart. I can still see him, hear him and laugh at his quick humor! On my computer is a card that says "To God" & that is how I start my day.

What I like about BCHS: Having taught several generations in many families at BCHS, I like that generation after generation people keep returning to Chatard. That makes us more than a school, it makes us a family.

Favorite BCHS Moment: As a student - Sock hops in the Chatard cafeteria after basketball games; As a coach - Having my tennis team win 4 consecutive city championships; As a teacher - Watching one of my former students, Jill (Sylvester) Starliper, win the Volleyball state finals as a BCHS coach; As an alumni - Being at the Boy's basketball state finals with one of my sisters and on the phone with my brother as BCHS won the 2003 state finals. That was an exciting moment for all BCHS alumni.

Background: I am a Spanish native speaker, born in Bolivia. I taught math and Spanish at Warren TWS and at IUPUI before retiring. I came back from retirement because I heard so many good things about Chatard.

Favorite BCHS Moment: Athletic competitions are a reflection of the spirit of the school. BCHS volunteers make it happen and host great competitions. Parents and students create a friendly atomosphere and win or lose, but we walk away with a hand on one's shoulder and look forward.

Background: This is my 3rd year of teaching at Chatard. I have also taught U.S. History leading up to this year. Educated at IUPUI (BSW) and Indiana Wesleyan (Teacher Licensure). Currently attending IUPUI during the evening to add accreditations on my license.

What I like about BCHS: I enjoy the "small-school" atmosphere at BCHS. There are no real strangers among the students and the compassion and support evident between students and teachers makes teaching here very fulfilling and rewarding.

Favorite BCHS Moment: Three years ago I worked with seniors from the class of 08' in establishing Powderpuff games during Homecoming week. There were difficult moments in the planning; however, seeing the response in sign-ups and watching the girls participate on game day made all the time worth it. Since then, the festivities have grown in numbers and popularity!

Background: This is my first year at BCHS after teaching and coaching for the last five years at Tipton (IN) High School. Before my time at Tipton, I taught for two years at Alexandria (IN) High School.

What I like about BCHS: I love the community-mindedness of the people here. There are great students at this school and a ton of opportunities for them to get involved in student life.

Background: I attended Marquette University and graduated in 2001. From 2002-2006, I taught middle school language arts in Louisville, Kentucky. I began teaching at Bishop Chatard in the fall of 2006 and have taught freshmen, sophomore, and senior level academic English. I am currently working on earning my master's degree in education from Butler University.

What I like about BCHS: I like the community atmosphere at Bishop Chatard. I enjoy being a part of such a faith-based, values-oriented, family environment.

What I like about BCHS: The smallness of Chatard makes it great for getting to know both the students and the parents as well as their younger brothers and sisters as they join us at Chatard.

Favorite BCHS Moment: One day, my Junior Applied Writing students came into class all excited because they had all received an "A" or an "A-" on their science papers. Only one was disappointed because she had received a "B+". I was excited for them because their hard work in the writing lab had paid off, and could now be seen in their other classes. We had a little celebration and talked about their papers.

Favorite Quote: My academic Juniors learned I was an Arnold Schwarzenegger fan and after finishing their research papers asked, "Can we call you the Dodge-anator?" One student later used it on the TV announcements. It became a special connection with that class.

Background: I come from three generations of Indiana University grads; both my degrees are from IU. This is my twenty-seventh year at Bishop Chatard.

What I like about BCHS: There's no question in my mind that the best thing, an extraordinary thing, about BCHS is its students. Mine are unfailingly bright, witty, warm, and scholarly. Even a genuinely bad day is brightened just by my being in their energetic presence.

Background: Have been involved in athletic administration & coaching for over 25 years. Enjoyed working on Pan American Games and NCAA events, but found BCHS athletic involvement more fulfilling.

What I like about BCHS: Family and faith-filled atmosphere

Favorite BCHS Moment: Marching Band 2003. The Secret Garden.

What I like about BCHS: I love the sense of family. We are not just a school community here but a family, and that shows in the things we do and the way we try to carry out Christ's mission each day.

Favorite BCHS Moment: One of my favorite moments was getting to come back and sign my first contract as a teacher here. It helped fulfill a dream of mine.

Background: Principal's Secretary/School Secretary 4 years, Taught Religion 20 years, Receptionist 3 years. Youth Minister Christ the King Parish 7 years, prior to working for the Church, I was an accountant's assistant.

What I like about BCHS: I love being with teenagers. I love chit chatting with them, listening to them and being present to them. I love the feeling of being in a huge family where everyone cares about each other. I love the fact that we can pray for each other and no one objects. I love the way the building looks and all the improvements that have been made to upgrade our facility. I love the friends I have here and that I have had them for a very long time.

Favorite BCHS Moment: A favorite memory was watching my son light candles at the Living Rosary and seeing him graduate here in our gym. I have many wonderful memories of retreats and watching the Holy Spirit work among our students.

What I like about BCHS: The thing I like best about BCHS is the community feel you get when you are here. The Chatard family welcomes you, encourages you and supports you. I also like having a chapel outside my office door.

What I like about BCHS: I love the atmosphere here at BCHS. It is loving and supportive, like having a second family.

Favorite BCHS Moment: My favorite memory is from my first year as a teacher in the early '80s. During my prep period, I would sit in an empty classroom and listen to Mr. Powell as he taught across the hall. He was such a fascinating teacher that I hated it if I ever had to miss it.

What I like about BCHS: I love the sense of family and community. The teachers and administrators here helped me to grow as a student (Class of 2005), and continue to mentor me now as a teacher. We truly care about one another at Bishop Chatard.

What I like about BCHS: Chatard was special to me as a student (Class of '84) because of the "family" atmosphere and the great teachers and coaches that influenced me and helped form who I am today. I see the same positive things now as an employee as I did 25 years ago as a student. And I hope to give a little back.

Favorite BCHS Moment: Winning the state championship my senior year in football in 1983 - the first state championship for BCHS.

Background: I earned my B.F.A. from Herron School of Art and Design and my M.A. from the University of Indianapolis. I have studied Art at Changsha University in China and I am a working and showing artist. In the summer I bring Art to children in the underserved neighborhoods of our city.

What I like about BCHS: I feel blessed to be working in a faith based environment and I feel that we are encouraged to teach the whole student here. There is something very calming and centered about beginning each class with a prayer. Chatard has an atmosphere of family and our students feel like we care about them on an individual basis. I did not grow up in this area, and yet, I feel like I also have found a family.

What I like about BCHS: Bishop Chatard has an inspiring spirit of faith, community and family. My son attends the Trojan Tot child care ministry while I come to work and that is so fantastic and convenient!

What I like about BCHS: The supportive atmosphere - both support for the students and support for and from the adults in the building.

Favorite BCHS Moment: Attending Open House in 1996 as a prospective parent, everyone was friendly and welcoming. That experience convinced me that I wanted my son to attend Bishop Chatard and I was excited when the opportunity for me to work here became available.

What I like about BCHS: The friendly students!

Background: I graduated from BCHS in 2004 and then went on to Indiana University, where I studied English, Classics, and Education.

What I like about BCHS: My favorite parts of working at Bishop Chatard are the wonderful faculty and the bright and motivated students.

Favorite BCHS Moment: My favorite BCHS memories are the relationships I have developed with other teachers and students.

Background: I am in my 18th year of teaching science at the secondary level. I have a BS in Microbiology and an MS in Secondary Education. I have taught science at Lawence North High School and Tipton High School prior to coming to BCHS.

What I like about BCHS: I enjoy the fact that students and their parents are dedicated to education and the mission of Bishop Chatard High School. I think the service component raises students' awareness in their community and the value of giving back. Also, I find that the students are very involved in a variety of activities at BCHS making it truly have a feel of community.

Background: Taught special education classes at Centralia Junior High School in Illinois, Harrison Hill Elementary in Lawrence Township and at North Elementary in Noblesville.

Favorite BCHS Moment: Graduating from Chatard myself in 1982 and then watching my oldest daughter graduate from BCHS last year.

What I like about BCHS: Meeting the kids is what I like about my job. And making good friends. It's a wonderful school. My four kids graduated from here.

What I like about BCHS: I love my students. I love teaching them Spanish and helping them develop an appreciation for the Hispanic culture. I love the camaraderie and nurturing environment and being in a faith filled Christian environment. I feel so blessed to have been a part of the BCHS community for the last 20 years.

Favorite BCHS Moment: There are many but probably the 1st time that I experienced the Living Rosary with my oldest son in 1993 and then my other children in their Senior years. It was such a tear - jerker to witness this beautiful ceremony and see them so grown up and all of us praying the Rosary together.

What I like about BCHS: BCHS is small enough to be a real family. In a short time, it really is possible to know almost everyone by name. When we experience great loss or great blessing, this family comes together as a suppotive community.

Favorite BCHS Moment: I love the Living Rosary. Before my eyes, the seniors who can seem so distracted in class become mature, serious, capable people, embraced by God, their families and the BCHS Community. In that moment, I see their promise and potential as the adults they are becoming.

Favorite BCHS Moment: One was an interview with a group of seniors about their involvement in the Invisible Children effort. They spoke with such conviction about their duty to help these victims of civil war in Uganda, and to "be the change they want to see in the world." Their dedication was inspiring. Another happens annually during the Dance Marathon for Riley Hospital. The students, led by the executive committee, dedicate so much time to raising money for the children's hospital, and, seeing the reaction on their faces to the total they raised, in that moment you know they understand the importance of serving their community.

What I like about BCHS: I love praying with my kids. I love teaching in a Christ-centered school. Academically, I love the class sizes and the work ethic I get from my students. I appreciate being in a school that supports scholastic journalism.

What I like about BCHS: All the teachers and staff members of the school seem to be so dedicated to the success of the students.

What I like about BCHS: The family atmosphere, including the students, parents, and staff, is so supportive. We are so blessed to have a chance to teach motivated students in this environment!

Favorite BCHS Moment: It's a tie: Taking a road trip to Franklin County for a football game with Mr. Stinson and Mr. Sutton; having TWO students get a 5 on the 2009 AP Chemistry Exam.

What I like about BCHS: I like the fact that we are able to pray everyday and that I can teach the subjects I love and feel safe doing both.

What I like about BCHS: Chatard recognizes that there is more to the growth and education of high schoolers than pure academics. Through service experiences, extra-curricular activities, and things as simple as starting classes with prayer, students receive a more complete and worthwhile high school experience.

Favorite BCHS Moment: As a student from 2000-2003, I have many great memories. Giving the valedictorian speech at graduation stands out in my mind as both an honor and a humbling experience. As a teacher, my favorite moments happen daily when a student will achieve something beyond what they thought possible. I'm happy to be able to help students reach these moments.

What I like about BCHS: The family oriented enviornment I've seen in all who are here at BCHS, no matter what their role in the school is. The Christian attitude of students I have seen through the service program, and my role as contact person to incoming families to the school.

What I like about BCHS: Love being a part of a fundraising team which asssits in creating an opportunity for students to attend a Catholic High School.

Favorite BCHS Moment: Raking leaves for an elderly gentleman with our service group and he came out to thank the students for their hard work, as he did not know how he was ever going to complete the work himself.

Background: I am a 1983 graduate of BCHS. I have a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and A Master's of Music Degree both from Butler University. I taught for 10 years at Immaculate Heart of Mary School (1987-1997) and I took a 1 year position at Park Tudor (2007). I have taught private piano lessons for 15 years.

What I like about BCHS: I like the closeness of the faculty and students. It is a friendly place to be and work. I find the cooperation and respectfulness of the students to be remarkable. I have many wonderful memories of my student days here and hope to create more as a teacher.

Favorite BCHS Moment: My favorite memory of Chatard is having the lead in "Bye Bye Birdie" my senior year. And of course all the friends I made here.

What I like about BCHS: The family atmosphere is the best! It is a true community. The close-knit relationships developed at BCHS remain with one throughout life. I am proud to be a 1993 graduate of BCHS, and I am glad that I am able as a teacher to give back to the community that gave me so much as a student.

Favorite Quote: My favorite quote comes from "A Separate Peace" by John Knowles, which is a staple of the sophomore English curriculum. "So the more things remain the same, the more they change after all." This reflects the fact that although physical surroundings and valued traditions remain unchanged throughout the years, it is our perspectives and our reactions to them that change. It's a great quotation because it reflects a respect for the past and a focus toward growth and change in the future.

What I like about BCHS: I enjoy the many great relationships I have made with my students and former players that I have coached.

Favorite BCHS Moment: Winning the 2003 3A Boys Basketball State Championship as an assistant coach and having the highest winning percentage as boys head basketball coach in school history.

What I like about BCHS: Ever since I first came to BCHS as a freshman in high school, Bishop Chatard has been an extended family to me. The community has blessed me with a strong faith foundation, a solid education, and lifelong friends. The best part of teaching and working at BCHS is having the opportunity to give back to a community that has given me so much, and to be inspired every day by the students, teachers, administrators, staff, and volunteers.

Favorite BCHS Moment: So many! I'd have to say that my favorite memory is teaching my youngest brother, Steve Rea. It was a joy to share his senior year with him--I'll always treasure the time we had together.

What I like about BCHS: I like the small-town feeling. Having grown up in an area where people knew each other well, I like that sense of community in the larger city setting. My best friends are my teaching colleagues and I value the relationships I have formed with parents and students over the years. I also like the fact that God is present in our school and that Christian values can be promoted here.

Favorite BCHS Moment: When I turned 50 years old, I was in homeroom when Mr. Kedra came in and started yelling at my students who were doing nothing wrong. It puzzled me until I noticed my family walking in behind him carrying a cake. My husband came from work, Jeanette was home from college, and Kathy and Alex came from their classrooms to surprise me. The cake was in blue and white BCHS colors and the blue icing was a trigonometric problem that worked out to 50. It was my favorite birthday cake ever.

What I like about BCHS: The family atmosphere and sense of faith-based community is inspiring. It's a true gift to witness God's presence at work everyday. It's also an awesome blessing to pursue my three biggest passions - faith, sports, and music - on a daily basis.

What I like about BCHS: The Bishop Chatard community is very welcoming. The teachers, administrative staff, support staff, etc. strive to make everyone feel a part of the community. You know you are home.

Favorite BCHS Moment: I taught at Bishop Chatard from 1988 to 1992 and left to pursue a degree in nursing. I was just about to enter clinicals when I decided this was not the career for me. I had the opportunity to come back to Bishop Chatard four years ago. Walking into the main office and getting a big hug from Richard Powell made me realize how fortunate I was to be back home!

Background: I was a French teacher at Bishop Chatard from 1978-1989. I then received my masters degree from Butler Univeristy and swtiched to the guidance department.

What I like about BCHS: There are so many things to like about BCHS, but I would have to say that our wonderful students, supportive parents, and caring faculty and staff make this place special!

Favorite BCHS Moment: My favorite moment is graduation. Seeing our students walk across the stage to receive their diplomas, knowing how hard they have worked to arrive at this next adventure in their lives, is always so gratifying and inspiring.

Background: After graduating from Bishop Chatard I went to Purdue University to study Early Childhood Education. In 2005 I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Exceptional Needs and I have been working with young children ever since.

Favorite BCHS Moment: I had great experiences and met many wonderful people by going to high school at Bishop Chatard. When I went to college and decided to study Early Childhood Education, I never imagined I would be able to be a teacher here. God definitely has a way of making sure we are where we need to be.
