News from
Athletics
Anthony Bill,
wrestler, competes at
state! Congratulations
to wrestler Anthony Bill (171lbs.)
who qualified to compete in the
state wrestling meet at Conseco
Fieldhouse on Friday, Feb. 19.
Anthony won his first match,
qualifying for the finals on
Saturday, Feb 20. Last
Saturday, Anthony competed in three
matches and finished 8th
in the state for the 171 weight
class this season. Way to go
Anthony! We'll see you on the
Bishop Chatard Wall of
Fame!
Basketball
updates Kudos to
the girls basketball team on having
a successful season which posted
one of the best overall records in
our school history! Highlights of
the season included Cathy Doyle and
Katie Shaughnessy being named as
members of the All-City Basketball
Team! See you on the Wall of Fame
in the future.
Boys swim action at
sectionals Congratulations
are in order to members of the boys
swim team who did a wonderful job
at the Sectional Prelims. Each boy
on the team dropped several seconds
off their events reaching personal
bests. Michael Holland broke both
the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle
school records. Michael's 100
freestyle was even faster than his
previous time, which broke the
record last year. Your coaches are
beaming with pride for all of your
outstanding swims!
The boys
swam in the sectional finals at
North Central on Saturday, Feb. 20,
and had an outstanding performance.
The medley relay comprised of
Stephen Grote, Danny Keiner, Liam
Marra, and Michael Holland dropped
time and placed sixth. The 200
freestyle relay of Matt Davis,
Eddie Fischer, Jay Cougan, and Liam
Marra and 400 freestyle relay of
Stephen, Jay, Eddie, and Michael
were awesome and dropped
significant time.
To finish
the season strong and end their
high school careers on a high note,
Michael Holland raised the bar
higher for the school's record in
the 50 and 100 freestyle
races and Stephen Grote
dropped another second in his 100
backstroke, making Bishop Chatard's
school records even harder to
break. Way to go seniors -- your
leadership and drive have played an
integral part in leaving a strong
swimming legacy at Bishop
Chatard.
Congratulations Matt
Bartlett
The
