Girls Varsity Basketball Notes
Indy Star announced that 1st Team All City for Girls Basketball was awarded to Kourtney Crawford. Honorable mention to Rachael Kimack, Katie Shaughnessy and Erica Stahl! Congratulations! Congratulations to senior Kourtney Crawford who was named to the MCCGSA '08-'09 All-City Girls Basketball team and to Katie Shaughnessy who received honorable mention. Supported by a sea of royal blue-clad fans, the Lady Trojans fell just short in their sectional showdown with Northwest, 54-56. Kourtney Crawford carried the Trojans with 20 points and tremendous leadership in her high school finale. Sophomores Katie Shaughnessy and Erica Stahl contributed 10 points apiece to give a glimpse of things to come. The girls basketball program appreciates the support throughout the season by the students, teachers and fans. We're already looking forward to next season but we'll miss Kourtney. We love you Kort, and good luck at U. of Indianapolis. The Lady Trojans completed their home schedule on Monday night with a win against pesky Park Tudor, 46-37. Senior Kourtney Crawford led all scorers with 13 points while junior Rachael Kimack added 11. The game was won in the 2nd half with tough defense and domination on the boards. Crawford pulled down 15 rebounds and sophomore Erica Stahl hauled down 12. In basketball, we prevailed 46-36 in a game much closer than the score reflects. More importantly, the girls basketball program partnered with the Scecina girls teams to raise over $3,000 for Coaches vs. Cancer and the American Cancer Society. Many thanks to all in the Bishop Chatard family who helped make the night not only a financial success, but a fun event. The Lady Trojans played their third game in 4 nights during Finals Week with a tough 66-53 loss to Arlington in the semi-finals of the City Tournament. Bishop Chatard challenged with double figure scoring from Kourtney Crawford (17 points), Katie Shaughnessy (12 pts.), Rachael Kimack (10 pts.), and Erica Stahl (10 pts). |
